✨ Cleanup 2.1.2 Bigger Bots, Pack Attacks and Polished Play
✨ Cleanup 2.1.2 Bigger Bots, Pack Attacks and Polished Play
The last update brought in lighting, lasers, and respawning mobs, huge systems that reshaped the game. As expected, that also meant a few rough edges. This cleanup release focuses on stability, performance, and midgame pressure, while also polishing the interface.
🤖 Enemy Variety: Darkness Is Not Your Friend
The dark is no longer just home to small fry. On larger asteroids, you can now encounter the bigger Blade Bot, and enemies that spawn in the dark may appear in packs.
This makes exploration riskier and midgame survival more intense.
🖥️ Small Interface Improvements
The interface got a round of polish to improve both style and clarity:
- Info texts (local and global) now use shadowed text instead of pink. (The old color worked for readability, but it didn’t fit the game’s style and players disliked it.)
- Crafting-time overlays now also use shadowed text for consistency.
- The Laser Tower shows its health in the configuration window.
- When the Laser Tower runs out of power, a clear lightning symbol now appears above it.
🛠️ Stability and Fixes
A quick hotfix earlier already stopped some nasty crashes and spark issues. This update continues that work:
- Fix: Resolved a crash caused by duplicate research files appearing due to device synchronization.
- Fix: Rendering system (RayCanvasBuffer) reworked to prevent lag and glitches from canvas buildup.
- Fix: Attacks on the Pyramid are no longer shown in the Combat Alert.
- Fix: Creating a new save without a name no longer causes a crash.
- Fix: Crash when scanning the Space Map near the start asteroid.
- Fix: Sparks no longer run in background threads, preventing broken light calculations.
- Together these changes should make play sessions smoother and reduce unexpected hiccups.
🚀 What’s Next
With stability back on track, the next updates will focus on more fixes, UI improvements, quality-of-life upgrades, and new content. A few previews of what’s coming:
- Previews for lights and lasers when placing them, so you know exactly how far they reach.
- Machines casting shadows, making bases feel more atmospheric.
- A second tier of lasers and lights powered by wires instead of batteries, stronger, more reliable defenses for the mid game.
👉 The game is steadily growing sharper, darker, and more demanding. How does the new enemy spawning pressure feel to you, fair, or too much? Let me know on Discord or in the comments. Your feedback keeps shaping every step forward.
